TEACHING / SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES

Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center since 1992.
As a full-time faculty neonatologist in the Department of Pediatrics my duties include teaching and mentoring for the medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and junior faculties in the field of pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Infant Mortality Review Committee and a member of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Injury Subcommittee at New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH).
As a consultant pediatrician in NYC DOHMH I reviewed all 69 SIDS cases of NYC 2001-2002 and recommended the strategies for SIDS risk reduction that was published by the Committee as family-centered strategies for health care providers since 2003.

Annual Dr. Zachary Apfel Memorial Lectureship
I established the annual lectureship in the memory of Dr. Apfel, a role model pediatrician for the pediatric residents and attendings in the community since 2003. Every year, I organize the event, select the lecture topic, and invite the guest speaker. Our previous guest speakers were Drs. Isabelle Rapin, Carol Berkowitz, Richard Behrman, Ira Chasnoff, and John Sinclair. It has been sponsored by an education grant from Mead Johnson Nutritionals/Abbott Nutritionals since 2005.
